Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions: United Foods Leading the Charge in Sustainability

In alignment with the UAE’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint both domestically and globally, the food industry is making significant strides to address climate change through focused greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction strategies. Nationally, the UAE has set bold goals through frameworks such as the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, the UAE Green Agenda 2030, and the UAE Net Zero 2050 initiative, all aimed at transforming the country’s energy landscape and bolstering sustainability practices. On the global front, the UAE has committed to reducing its net GHG emissions to 182 MtCO2e by 2030 as part of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).

United Foods has reached a significant milestone in reducing Scope 2 emissions achieving 15.22% decrease by maximizing renewable energy usage. This was accomplished through the installation of solar panels across the entire rooftop on our production facility and incorporating biofuels into our operations.

We at United Foods are proud of these initiatives and plan to go beyond regulatory compliance; representing a significant shift towards a sustainable, environmentally conscious food production ecosystem in the UAE and for our consumers across the globe.
