On October 19th 2020, United Foods Company officially awarded a large scale power plant project to Yellow Door Energy which entails the establishment of a cutting-edge rooftop solar power plant to run United Foods Edible Oil and Fats Factory in Jebel Ali.

This marks a historical milestone as the project aims to reduce carbon emissions by 1400 tones through the expected production of 3.3 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy. Yellow Door Energy will produce 4,400 solar panels which will be placed on the rooftops of the factory.

Environmental Benefits:

● 1,400 tonnes of carbon emissions avoided annually
● 34,000+ tonnes of carbon emissions avoided over 25 years (system lifetime)
● 7,400+ cars removed from the road over 25 years
● 900,000 tree seedlings planted for 10 years over 25 years

United Foods CEO Fethi Khiari comments, “The Solar Agreement is a true milestone in achieving our sustainability goals, in line with the UAE sustainability strategies.
